Everton held Manchester City to a thrilling 3-3 draw at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

David Moyes’ side perhaps should’ve come away with all three points, as they were 3-1 up heading into the final 10 minutes.

Thierno Barry made a huge impact off the bench, as he netted a brace to turn the game completely on its head.

How do you even begin to explain that? 😫

Ultimately, there was a sense of disappointment at the full-time whistle, but Everton should be proud of lots of elements of their performance.

Pep Guardiola was certainly very complimentary of the Toffees.

Pep Guardiola says Everton made it a ‘proper English game’

Speaking after the game, Guardiola praised Everton for their superb defending and aggressive style of play.

“We gave away the goals but we came back,” the Man City boss said.

“They made a proper English game, so aggressive in the duels. In general, we made a really good performance.

Another penalty decision not going in Everton’s favour? 🫣

Bernardo Silva wasn't even looking at the ball 🤷‍♂️

“We were outstanding. We got to the byline a lot, we shoot, we make chances. It’s not easy, they play defensively so well with 10 players in position.

“We take the point and until it’s over, it’s over. We continue. (Second half) The momentum, they were more aggressive. In general we were good, we created a lot. Unfortunately we couldn’t capitalise.

“Everton away is always difficult. It’s better than losing. It shows what the team are. We tried, the players gave everything.”

Guardiola clearly views Everton as a top side and knew coming into this game it’d be a potential slip-up fixture.

The Hill Dickinson Stadium crowd certainly played its part in making it very tough for the Citizens, who were completely rattled for a portion of the second half.

Attention now turns to Crystal Palace game on Sunday, with the Toffees probably needing to win their last three games to qualify for Europe.
