Everton fans have manufactured grand plans for this Sunday’s huge Premier League clash.
As a vocal bunch unwilling to lie down in the face of adversity, on Friday they were arguably handed the most adverse piece of news ever as it was confirmed that they would be deducted ten points due to their financial misconduct.
Whilst a punishment was widely expected, given the fanbase were at the forefront of a movement seeking to push out the perpetrator in Farhad Moshiri, few thought it would be so severe.
However, with the numerous political agendas at play, it really is no shock.
With a mass protest now planned for this weekend’s game with Manchester United, in which banners, planes and flags have all been enlisted to make their points, a report by The Times has suggested that Sky Sports might actually be planning to mitigate such furore.

Worried that the use of the F-word will be relentless in the home crowd’s chanting, there are a number of measures set to be implemented that could silence their voice.
In the past, broadcasters have reportedly reduced the volume of the crowd or even played pre-recorded crowd noise. However, the latter is unexpected to be used this weekend.
Why are Everton fans protesting against the Premier League?
As aforementioned, the grievance from the fans comes not from the enforcement of a punishment, but the unnecessary severity of it.
After all, when Portsmouth entered administration in 2010, even they received a lesser sentence, only being docked nine points. It is hard to work out how they came to such a damning conclusion.
It sets a dangerous precedent for the rest of the division, and it almost feels like Everton are being used to make an example out of again.

Especially given the emergence of other reports, which outline how the independent commission and the Premier League moved the goalposts with their ruling, altering the statutes as they go.
The punishment is inflammatory and unprecedented, and as such will be appealed by the club. However, the home crowd hopes to hammer home their point with a show of their own, lambasting the corruption they feel is ongoing.
