What Tony Cascarino is saying about Everton’s Premier League survival hopes ahead of Leicester City clash

Everton have a huge opportunity later today to finally kick start their Premier League campaign following their dismal start.

Sean Dyche‘s side remain slumped at the bottom of the table having lost all four of their opening games in the league.

Coming up against a struggling Leicester City side, there can be no excuses on Saturday afternoon for the Toffees.

However, there is a lot to improve on if they are going to turn around their early season form having thrown away a two-goal lead in their previous two games.

There may well be some brighter news away from the pitch with John Textor advancing in his takeover bid for Everton.

But Everton‘s poor start to the season has already thrown them into the relegation conversation after what seemed to be a positive summer of transfer business.

What Tony Cascarino is now saying about Everton

The Toffees are now the only side to have failed to put a point on the board in the 2024/25 Premier League campaign.

Although there have been some positives to take from the recent defeats, it is a results business and the Blues are seriously struggling.

Despite having a strong end to last season, it seems all of that progress has gone out of the window as the pressure ramps up on Dyche.

Speaking on TalkSPORT [21/9 at 7:15 am], Tony Cascarino has now admitted what he’s seen from Everton has him expecting them to go down this season.

“This is the first time I have ever said Everton, I think, could go this season,” he said.

“I have always felt Sean Dyche’s team will be kept up by the way that they play, the quality of players that they have, and I don’t mean that they are the highest top dollar of players, but it’s quite a pragmatic style, but it’s also players that have got quite a lot of games under their belt in the Premier League.

“I thought that would keep them in now. I don’t feel like that this year. I feel like, do you know what, this will be a real challenge for Everton to stay in the Premier League.”

Everton cannot afford to be relegated

Although an influx of new investment could be on the horizon at Goodison Park, this is certainly not the season where Everton will ever want to face relegation.

The Toffees are set to move into their new stadium over the summer and playing Championship football is not going to help fund the new ground at all.

Although there has been a dismal start on Merseyside, it seems as if Textor has not been put off with the American continuing his talks to buy the club.

However, Everton are going to need to show something in their game against Leicester on Saturday afternoon to provide the fans with some hope.
