Who Everton boss Sean Dyche must turn to after latest Calvert-Lewin injury blow

Everton are back in action today, but face a tough task to snag a result from a resolute Nottingham Forest side at their City Ground.

Having maintained a strong recent run at home, the Tricky Trees will be hoping to avenge their recent disappointment against Brighton and Hove Albion with a win today.

However, the tactical makeup of the clash makes for an interesting battle, as Steve Cooper once again does battle with Sean Dyche. Last campaign saw this exact fixture finish 2-2, so goals are somewhat expected.

Despite that, the absence of Taiwo Awoniyi is expected to be a blow for the hosts, who will see their goal threat significantly weakened.

Should Dominic Calvert-Lewin once again miss out, as reports have suggested, the score will be somewhat evened though.

Whilst Beto would be the natural replacement for the 26-year-old, doubts over his fitness could see Youssef Chermiti thrown in for his first-ever Premier League start.

How good is Youssef Chermiti?

Despite only enjoying a handful of appearances in senior football across both England and Portugal, it seems harsh to judge the 19-year-old with any aggressive scrutiny.

However, the ‘superb’ youngster, in the eyes of Football Talent Scout Jacek Kulig, has caught the eye during his brief cameos in royal blue.

Last Sunday, for example, saw the Portuguese U20 international shine from the bench, enjoying a 7.3 rating from just eight minutes of playtime, buoyed by his one key pass, one big chance created and three aerials won out of three competed in, via Sofascore.

Having joined for £15m in the summer, there were relatively big expectations for a man who had scored three Liga Portugal goals in 16 appearances last term.

And yet, Dyche has continued to downplay his immediate importance.

Well, today could mark Chermiti’s first real challenge, stepping in should both Beto and Calvert-Lewin be unfit to lead the Toffees to what would be an important victory.
