Everton are looking to keep the ball rolling in the transfer market, and striker Christian Kofane has emerged as a target.

Africa Foot have claimed that the Toffees have actually made an offer for the Bayer Leverkusen teenager, who caught the eye last season over in the Bundesliga.

Of course, Everton are reported to be in the market for a new centre-forward following criticism of Thierno Barry and Beto throughout 2025/26.

Neither player is prolific, and the feeling for many is that Everton need a real killer in front of goal to really push up the league table.

After signing Hayden Hackney and with Tyrique George’s permanent move set to be announced soon, it seems the striker position is coming into greater focus.

And here’s everything you need to know about the latest target, Christian Kofane.

Who is Everton target Christian Kofane?

Christian Kofane was born in Douala, Cameroon, on 26 July 2006, making him 19 years old.

Born to Cameroonian parents, Kofane holds dual Cameroonian-French citizenship, having moved to France during his childhood.

He joined Spanish outfit Albacete Balompié in November 2024, and after developing in their academy, he made his first-team debut in January 2025 – he started and scored in a Segunda División match against Racing Santander.

He went on to score seven more goals that season, instantly putting him on the radars of several European clubs.

And it was Bayer Leverkusen who managed to sign him in that summer, paying in excess of his €5 million release clause.

Last term, in his first season in Germany, Kofane scored seven goals and made nine assists in 44 appearances.

Such has been his exciting and rapid development, Kofane also already has international pedigree, accruing six caps for Cameroon.

Africa Foot have said that Arsenal, Barcelona and Newcastle are all keen, but it’s Everton who have taken the first step towards trying to sign him.

What kind of player is Kofane?

He hasn’t been on the scene for very long, but Kofane has already shown himself to be a real physical handful, which may perhaps explain Everton’s interest.

He is nice and tall at 6ft 2in, and Bayer Leverkusen’s sporting director Simon Rolfes is quoted by the official Bundesliga website as saying: “Christian is an extremely powerful and quick striker.

“He’ll make our play more variable with his strengths and also has the potential to become an important part of our team in the coming years.”

That Bundesliga feature also compares him to Liverpool forward Hugo Ekitike. They write: “With speed, vision and a polished finishing ability, Kofane has every hope of becoming the latest talented young striker to bloom in the Bundesliga.

“He certainly has the potential to create some special highlight reels with his silky skills and all-round profile similar to that of Eintracht Frankfurt counterpart Hugo Ekitiké.”

French former footballer Samuel Lobe has said he thinks Kofane is similar to the legendary Samuel Eto’o in terms of play style (via Buli News).

Claims of Everton making a bid are quite surprising.

Because Kofane has been the subject of several articles this summer, which have reported very big valuations and interest from some top clubs.

But one of Kofane’s advisers, Eric Depolo, was quoted by Bild in April as saying: “Arsenal’s interest is serious. With Kofane, Arsenal would have a top striker for the next ten years. He’s a €100 million player.”

It’s unclear how much Everton have offered, if they have even made one. But if Leverkusen want to demand close to the figure Depolo suggested, then this will surely be a non-starter for the Toffees.
