Everton snatched a late equalizer against Liverpool in the Merseyside Derby in what was a memorable game at Goodison Park.

Everton went ahead in the clash through Beto, who converted cooly from a sensational forward pass by Jarrad Branthwaite.

Alexis Mac Allister headed in the leveller shortly after before Mohamed Salah put the visitors 2-1 ahead in the second half.

David Moyes’ side didn’t fold over though, they continued to push and got their reward when James Tarkwoksi volleyed in a 98th-minute goal to send Goodison Park into total bedlem.

There was a nervy wait for VAR to confirm the goal and once they did, the Everton faithful had a second celebration which raised the decibels even higher.

At the full-time whistle, the emotions split over between the two teams and Abdoulaye Doucoure, Curtis Jones, Arne Slot and Sipke Hulshof were all shown red cards.

Why Abdoulaye Doucoure was shown a red card vs Liverpool

When the referee sounded the full-time whistle, Abdoulaye Doucoure ran over to celebrate right in front of the Liverpool fans.

Curtis Jones took offence to that and shoved the Frenchman, which sparked a big bust-up between the two sets of players.

Ultimately, Doucoure and Jones were both shown second yellow cards and a red, so they’ll serve a one-game suspension.

Meanwhile, Slot was shown a straight red card after a heated rant at the referee, meaning he’ll have to serve a one-game touchline ban.

A truly chaotic end to the game but one fitting off the fierce rivalry.

Everton dent Liverpool’s title hopes

A point for Everton moves them 10 points clear of the relegation zone, so Moyes will be more pleased about that than anything.

But it also dents Liverpool’s title hopes, as they haven’t been able to put a more sizable gap between them and second-placed Arsenal.

The attention will now turn to this weekend’s clash against Crystal Palace for Moyes and his coaching staff.

But, Everton supporters won’t be quick to forget what was a fitting final Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.
