An answer to the ongoing striker problem at Everton has been revealed, as Beto’s performances aren’t convincing.
David Moyes made some excellent signings with the nine new faces he brought in this summer.
Their impact has been shown on the pitch so far, and it’s quite clear the Scot knows what he’s doing when it comes to the window.
But the manager himself has stressed that not all his business was completed, as Moyes found this summer ‘difficult’.
He did the best he could, and the Toffees look like they have enough to compete, but the need for a striker at Everton is so obvious.

Everton focused on defenders rather than signing another striker
This window, the squad needed a major revamp, and the Friedkin Group have helped provide that.
But it looks like an area has been left untouched, as despite Thierno Barry’s £27 million arrival, Moyes doesn’t want to put ‘pressure’ on Barry, meaning the striker position is still crying out for a proven goalscorer.
Paddy Boyland, writing for The Athletic, has revealed exactly why another number nine wasn’t signed, with it being claimed that Moyes ‘weighed up’ a move for a potential candidate in January.
Ultimately though, it came down to prioritising the signings of defenders, which couldn’t really be managed either with only Adam Aznou coming in.
There is still a big question mark over positions in the squad, but the need for a forward has surely become the number one priority after the Aston Villa draw.

Beto performance against Aston Villa raises concerns for Everton
Although Barry’s rawness proves he can’t take the reins just yet, it’s Beto who is letting the side down.
Despite his resurgence under Moyes last campaign, the 27-year-old has struggled as Moyes was even disappointed with Beto in pre-season.
He has shown positive signs, but it’s his consistency that’s an issue, as his display against Villa wasn’t the best.

As much as Jack Grealish tried to create, the forward just couldn’t find the finishing touch, as Beto could be dropped for Barry vs Liverpool.
It’s a big role to fill for the 22-year-old, and explains exactly why Everton must sign a striker in January, as Barry still needs time, and Beto is struggling to be the striker Moyes wants.
