The future of Jack Grealish is currently up in the air, after reports emerged to suggest a move to Everton is not a foregone conclusion.
Jack Grealish made 20 appearances for the Toffees in 2025/26, after having his season cruelly cut short by injury.
The star suffered a foot injury, for which he required surgery, leaving fans gutted at the time as he had been performing well.
With Jack Grealish done for the season, let us know your verdict on his campaign! 🤔
He provided six assists and two goals in the Premier League 👏
Since Grealish has been out, there have been several reports about how Everton want him back and how Grealish himself would be keen for a second spell.
Things are complicated, because Everton are not going to pay the £50 million buy option that was initially negotiated because of the injury.
Ideally Everton would sign him back on loan, but the player will only have a year left on his City contract this summer.
This week, it’s been suggested Grealish could get a new lease of life at City with Enzo Maresca to succeed Pep Guardiola – but there are several reasons why he shouldn’t be tempted by this.
Jack Grealish should push to return to Everton

So at the moment, things are a bit up in the air regarding Grealish and his future. And this was perhaps going to be inevitable the minute it was confirmed Pep Guardiola was leaving City.
Grealish had no future at the Etihad because of Guardiola.
But the change of manager potentially now complicates things for Everton.
But Grealish should push to join Everton, because the half-season he had at Hill Dickinson Stadium was full of positives.
Of course there were a few games where he frustrated.
But by and large, Grealish impressed and was the player Everton always looked to to make things happen. He was much more of a main actor. At City, he was, at best, a part of the supporting cast.
And if he goes back there, that could be the role he takes up once again.
For Everton, Grealish was playing regularly. Before his foot injury, he only missed one game against Burnley through illness, which then forced him to make a substitute appearance in the next game against Nottingham Forest.
He started every other game, and likely would have continued to do so had he never picked up that foot injury.
Grealish is already adored in these parts for what he brings both on the pitch and off it.
He’s embraced the culture of the club, doing things like meeting the Everton Down Syndrome team and working with Everton In The Community. In fairness, Grealish has consistently done things like this at his previous clubs.
In the grand scheme of things, we’ve only really seen a glimpse of what he can bring to Everton moving forward.
But he’s proven he is worth moving for, and hopefully Everton have also proven themselves to the player.
Not finishing in the European places possibly hurts their cause in terms of keeping Grealish.
What should Everton be willing to pay to bring back Grealish over the summer? 💰
But at the same time, they can make the case to him that he was badly missed and that they truly need him. Finch Farm sources are said to feel Grealish’s ball retention ability was missed in the run-in, and there is certainly weight to that argument.
Going back to City would give him no guarantees. The likes of Jeremy Doku and Antoine Semenyo have been brilliant for them recently and are strong competition. There’s also players like Rayan Cherki and Phil Foden who can be wide options.
Put simply, Grealish should push to play for the club that has helped him get back on track and that has a fanbase ready and waiting to worship him.
