Jack Grealish is wanted back at Everton for next season, and the player himself could be key in negotiations.

Jack Grealish hasn’t taken to the field for Everton since January 18 when David Moyes’ side beat Aston Villa at Villa Park.

What should Everton be willing to pay to bring back Grealish over the summer? 💰

After the game, news came through about a foot injury, and it then transpired it was serious.

Grealish had to have surgery, and that ended his season. And since then, there has been speculation about his future and whether the injury will have an impact.

Everton want to re-sign Grealish this summer and by many accounts, the player is keen to remain.

This evening, it’s been suggested that Grealish himself could play a key role in what happens this summer.

Jack Grealish’s ‘desperation’ could help Everton in Man City talks

Many Evertonians have really taken Grealish to their hearts, and many would love to see him back. Not only has he been a good player, but he’s also embraced the club as a whole.

Everton did negotiate a £50 million buy option for the winger, but that clause will not be triggered following the player’s injury, which robbed him of half the season.

Negotiations will commence once the season has finished and The i Paper report that Grealish can help Everton in the talks with City.

The player’s ‘desperation’ to stay at Everton is cited as a potentially key factor ahead of the summer window.

It’s previously been suggested that Grealish was keen to remain, but the fact he’s desperate really does indicate that he’s loved his time here so far.

So this stance from Grealish might just help Everton to get a favourable deal.

The Toffees’ ideal scenario is that they get Grealish back on loan for 2026/27, potentially with another buy option included.

But City will want to ensure that the deal works for them. They’ll be mindful of the fact that Grealish will only have a year left on his contract at the Etihad this summer.

Grealish back on loan would be perfect outcome

It remains to be seen what Everton can do this summer with Grealish, but the player’s desire is bound to help.

Getting him back on loan would be the ideal scenario.

City would no doubt want a fee to make that happen, so Everton should prepare themselves for that.

But hopefully he’ll be back gracing the Hill Dickinson Stadium turf again next season.

While he did have some games where he frustrated, he did grab six assists for Everton and is clearly the kind of creative player the Toffees need in their team alongside the likes of Iliman Ndiaye and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
