Why Tyler Dibling may be on the verge of an Everton breakthrough

David Moyes seems to be in more of an experimental mood after Everton lost ground in the race to qualify for European football.

The Glaswegian finally gave Merlin Rohl a start last time out in the 3-3 draw against Manchester City, with the German impressing Everton fans enough to be named Man of the Match on TalkingPoints.

There was also a rare chance for Nathan Patterson, who came on for his first appearance since January.

However, there was no opportunity for Tyler Dibling to make his first outing since the 2-0 win over Burnley in March, although if the Everton No.20 receives some minutes against Crystal Palace on Sunday, we are backing him to announce himself.

What changes would you make to our prediction of Moyes’ XI on Sunday? 😬

It would not surprise us to see Merlin Rohl dropped despite Monday's display 🫣

Tyler Dibling has already scored against Crystal Palace and trip to Selhurst Park could be ideal

The England U21 international actually scored against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park last season, opening the scoring to put Southampton 1-0 up before they eventually lost 2-1.

It should give Dibling confidence that he can trouble the Eagles once again, and not only that, but Crystal Palace may also be tired after playing the second leg of their UEFA Conference League semi-final against Shakhtar Donetsk on Thursday night.

Oliver Glasner could look to rotate as a result. One change the Austrian tends to make after a European outing is Borna Sosa coming in for Tyrick Mitchell at left wing-back, on the same flank Dibling tends to play when he does get a chance.

Sosa is much weaker than Mitchell, so if the 20-year-old ends up getting the nod from Moyes this Sunday and lines up against the Croatian, we are confident he will shine for the Toffees.

Dibling is said to have shown a fine attitude despite his lack of opportunities at Everton – where he has made only four starts in the Premier League this season following his £40m move from Southampton in August.

Who would you be starting up front on Sunday against Crystal Palace? 😬

Do you stick with Beto or reward Barry for Monday's brace? 🤔

Therefore, he deserves a chance to show he too can be an important player for Everton, like Rohl did on Monday against Manchester City.
