Everton have several talented players who David Moyes rarely uses.
The Toffees have a £40m attacker who only made four starts in the Premier League last season in Tyler Dibling – making that substantial investment seem a strange use of funds.
Everton also spent £12.6m to sign Charly Alcaraz from Flamengo in May 2025 after the Argentina international impressed on loan in the second half of the 2024/25 campaign.
However – according to TEAMtalk – the South American is now ready to leave as River Plate attempt to bring the attacking midfielder back to Argentina.

Charly Alcaraz looking likely to leave Everton
It is said that Everton are ready to sell the 23-year-old after he made just six Premier League starts under Moyes last season, due to a combination of injuries and competition from Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
River Plate are in talks over a permanent deal for Alcaraz, and while the Everton No.24 is not actively pushing to leave the Hill Dickinson Stadium, he is described as being open to the move if the Toffees force him out.

The man born in La Plata only has 12 months remaining on his contract, but Everton do hold an option to extend his terms by a further year – so there is not as much of a rush to sell as there would be without that extension clause.
Everton are already working on a deal which would see Alcaraz have more competition for a spot in midfield under Moyes, as the Toffees attempt to sign Hayden Hackney from Middlesbrough.
The Middlesbrough No.7 wants the move and Everton have already started to bid, so it feels like only a matter of time until the England U21 international ends up on Merseyside.
Everton could end up needing to sign two midfielders if Alcaraz departs, considering Idrissa Gueye may also leave.

He's got a one-year extension clause in his deal…
The Senegal international becomes a free agent when his contract expires at the end of June, and is yet to put pen to paper on an extension.
