Although nine players were signed over the summer at Everton there were also a considerable number of departures on Merseyside.

David Moyes has overhauled the squad he inherited from Sean Dyche when he returned to the club almost 12 months ago.

A number of the exits sanctioned over the summer saw players leave at the end of their Everton contracts.

Everton no longer fear the Financial Fair Play regulations of the Premier League and only two players were actually sold over the summer.

Alan Myers Q&A on talking points

The player who has really kicked on since departing Merseyside has been Dominic Calvert-Lewin with his recent success at Leeds United.

However, there was another player who stole the headlines on Saturday afternoon with his new club.

Youssef Chermiti finally shows Rangers quality after leaving Everton

Kevin Thelwell sanctioned the purchase of Youssef Chermiti at Rangers following his own move to Ibrox last year.

It has been far from the start to the season in which Chermiti would have hoped for having only boasted two league goals ahead of Saturday’s clash at Celtic.

As Rangers triumphed at Parkhead, Chermiti proved the hero for Danny Rohl’s side as he netted twice for the Gers.

Could Youssef Chermiti have offered David Moyes a better option than Beto? 🤔

Having netted his second, Sky Sports commentator Ian Crocker said: “He’s only gone and done it again! This is extraordinary! The season that keeps on giving gives us two goals from Youssef Chermiti.”

Over his opening months in Glasgow, Chermiti has received some brutal reviews from both fans and the media.

However, he has written his name in the history books on Saturday with a huge away win for Rangers in the Old Firm Derby.

Since the end of October, Chermiti has only found the back of the net once before the game on Saturday against Celtic.

Chris Sutton has slammed Chermiti’s performances this season, but he will finally be hoping to kick on in his career in Glasgow.

Everton still need to replace Chermiti

Make no mistake about it, the 21-year-old was far from a regular in the starting XI on Merseyside during his time at the club.

Since he departed, though, Everton have been getting by with just two strikers at Moyes’ disposal.

Which former Everton striker would you hypothetically bring back to play in the current side? 🤩

There is an understanding that Moyes is desperate to add another striker in the January transfer window having only signed Thierno Barry over the summer.

Chermiti may not have fulfilled his potential at Goodison Park, but he did offer Everton an option to change things up in attack.

There won’t be many regrets at Everton about selling Chermiti, but there will be some fans pleased to see he was finally able to find the back of the net again.
