Anthony Gordon isn’t exactly hailed by Everton fans anymore like he used to be during his tenure.

The Evertonians took a dislike to Gordon ever since he decided to jump ship for Newcastle United in 2023.

This did of course give the Toffees a £45m transfer fee, but to see an academy star leaving is always painful.

Goodison Park made their feelings very clear to Gordon earlier in the season, when the winger saw his penalty in front of the Gwladys Street saved by Jordan Pickford in October.

This brought Everton fans to mock Gordon, and someone who saw this firsthand was Abdoulaye Doucoure, who was shocked at what he did at Everton.

Abdoulaye Doucoure makes surprise Anthony Gordon claim at Everton

Starting from the academy is never easy as an Everton player, and someone who could replicate Gordon in David Moyes’ team is Harrison Armstrong.

The youngster has a long way to go in getting to the 24-year-old’s level, but Gordon was patient to get his Everton chance, and Armstrong should do the same.

Well, when he did get his chance, the winger no doubt took it and certainly shocked everyone with his impact.

Doucoure was one of those who were surprised, as speaking to the Fozcast, the Toffees midfielder explained why he was taken aback by the winger.

“I was really impressed because he was training with us, but under Rafa Benitez, he wasn’t really playing,” Doucoure said.

“No one could see he was gonna reach that level.

“I enjoyed playing with him, he’s become a top player. Gordon was one of my biggest surprises.”

Gordon could end up at Liverpool adding to Everton’s fury

With the winger shining at Newcastle and looking likely to return to the Champions League, Everton fans won’t be too pleased.

It is a shame how the toxic relationship has formed, but Gordon hasn’t helped matters in the slightest.

Last summer, Gordon was linked to Liverpool in what seemed like a final straw moment for Evertonians.

Thankfully, he chose to stay, but who’s to say he won’t opt for the move in the future?

Gordon predicted Liverpool to win the league, and judging from his actions in the past a transfer further down the line could happen.
