Everton News hosted the brilliant journalist Alan Myers for a question-and-answer session on TalkingPoints.
Everton supporters sent in lots of great questions for Alan Myers, and he went through and answered them all on Monday.
Myers revealed that James Garner is close to signing a new contract, with the deal expected to be announced this month.
Will Garner’s new contract be the signing of the window? 🤩
He also touched on the future of David Moyes and more trivial questions like who his favourite ever player is.
That said, we’ve collated all of his answers into one article, so here are all the key takeaways in case you missed them.

Alan Myers answers all of your Everton questions
Who is your all-time favourite Everton player and why?
“Only one name, Big Bob Latchford! There are many great and better players, but Bob’s goals and performances in the 70’s were just special for me growing up. He gave us hope when there wasn’t much about.”

How long do you see David Moyes staying at Everton and what would be considered a successful season?
“I see him here this season and next, at least, I think a trophy is a major ambition, which is long overdue, it won’t be easy as realistically the FA Cup is all we can go for, however a good top 8 finish would be progress for me.”
What position do you reckon should be the biggest priority for January…right-back or striker?
“Personally I think a striker is the priority.” Myers also added: “I’d like to see Ivan Toney, I’m not sure it can happen, but he’d be a great addition. I also like the RB at Blackburn Ryan Alieobisie.”
Who would be your dream Everton signing this month? 👀
What’s the Friedkins’ position on PSR?
“I think their approach is a cautious one at present, they certainly won’t put the club in a difficult position by spending, but there is a balance, as I firmly believe we need players in January to ensure a top-half finish.”
Are Everton actively fielding offers for Beto?
“My guess would be that they would consider offers for him and a few others but a replacement would be mandatory.”

Which players do you think we’ll be signing in January?
“Names, I don’t know at this point, I think his (Moyes) preference would be PL experience, I’m sure foreign players will be considered.”
Forget your January hopes, what do you actually expect from Everton in the market? 🤔
Who do you think could leave this month… reckon Aznou gets a loan?
“I think there is every chance of Aznou going out on loan, I think he needs to also.”
Myers was also asked whether Aznou could be punished for questioning Moyes’ team selection in a now-deleted social media post, he simply replied: “No.”
How closely are Everton working on targets with Moyes?
“I think the manager will be heavily involved, and that’s how it should be, however I do think there is a committee approach at the club now, so others will be involved.”
