Everton have several players out of contract at the end of the season, including arguably the Player of the Season, James Garner.
David Moyes and his Everton staff are working behind the scenes on a number of new deals for their first-teamers.
Vitali Mykolenko has been locked in contract talks since the summer, but there’s so far been no movement on that front.
Michael Keane and Idrissa Gana Gueye are also set to become free agents in July, so a decision will need to be made on their futures.
Garner has been in talks to renew his deal for months now, and the last update suggested there was a discrepancy in wage demands.
Where should James Garner rank among Everton’s top earners? 💰
He's been excellent this season, but surely he can't become the top earner!
Now, speaking exclusively to Everton News, Alan Myers has provided an update on Garner’s situation.

Alan Myers shares positive update on James Garner’s talks with Everton
Garner has been in the form of his career this season and is earning glowing plaudits from across the Premier League.
England manager Thomas Tuchel was spotted talking to Garner after the Manchester United win in November, so he may well be in line for an England call-up.
Garner’s contract situation has alerted Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa, who are all showing an interest in landing his signature.
But, Myers has been able to provide good news on that front, as he expects the 24-year-old to pen a new deal this month.
Will Garner’s new contract be the signing of the window? 🤩
Clearly, Everton are progressing in talks with the Toffees midfielder, so that’s arguably the best bit of business the club could do this window.
James Garner will become a £50m asset for Everton
So long as there is no late twist in Garner’s contract talks, it looks as though Everton are set to retain one of their most precious assets.
If he pens a long-term deal, he would genuinely become a £50m asset, and that value would only increase with an England call-up.
What more does James Garner need to show to earn an England call-up? 🏴
To think the Toffees only paid £15m for his signature back in 2022 is pretty remarkable, and it shows the rapid development he’s undergone on Merseyside.
With Harrison Armstrong now recalled from Preston North End, Garner could form a really exciting midfield partnership with the teenager.
Moyes’ midfield is set for at least the next five years.
