Alan Myers provides brand-new Everton update in Jaden Philogena saga

This entire Jaden Philogene saga has grown rather tiresome, with Everton still unsure where they stand on the matter.

The Hull City winger, who tore up the Championship last season with 12 goals and six assists, has become a very coveted asset.

Unsurprisingly Premier League clubs are sniffing around, but despite the Toffees being quite comfortably the biggest of those interested, Crystal Palace and Ipswich Town are both very much still in the race.

And now, we have a fresh update set to offer a clearer picture of how this saga might end.

Alan Myers provides fresh Jaden Philogene update

Given it was revealed that Everton had agreed a deal for Philogene, to see how this saga has unravelled is frustrating.

It makes no sense, and has ebbed and flowed with no rhyme or reason.

Impossible to predict, even the great Alan Myers has looked somewhat confused at times, seeking to stay out of the mess before wading in for the first time earlier today.

And now, his latest update seems far more confident, as he wrote on X: ‘Now being told Philogene favours a move to Ipswich Town, go figure! (As they say in the good ‘ole USA)’.

This comes after Alan Myers changed his stance on the Philogene saga once already.

Everton can’t afford to be played for fools

Whilst they have already showcased a newfound intelligence this summer with the way they are going about their deals, this is worrying.

After all, over the years we have seen this kind of saga occur so often, with the Toffees usually ending up paying way over the odds for a player barely worth half the sum offloaded.

And even if Philogene has a hugely high ceiling, and would likely fetch a monstrous fee in the future after a few years of excelling in the Premier League, it really might not be worth the hassle.

Especially when Everton have already shown interest in Yaser Asprilla, a fine alternative who has also shone in the Championship too.

For too many years now, the Toffees have been made to look foolish, with their vast fortune slowly frittered away.

They cannot afford to take such a risk, and they must not allow this saga to develop any further. If Philogene wants Ipswich Town, then so be it. Everton will quite comfortably move on without him.
