Everton have really struggled this season and look set to be involved in yet another relegation battle.

The Merseysiders have won just three of their opening 18 games and are winless in their last five following back-to-back defeats to Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth.

Sean Dyche’s men failed to register a single shot on target on the south coast, which amplifies just how pragmatic the style has been this term.

Everton fans were furious at Dyche’s comments after the game as he tried to defend the abysmal run of form.

Many have urged the club to make a change in the dugout and now Alan Myers has shared his hunch on who the Friedkin Group would appoint if Dyche is to depart.

Alan Myers thinks Graham Potter could be Friedkin’s number one target

Well-respected Everton journalist Alan Myers revealed to Sky Sports that Sean Dyche’s future has been under assessment since the full-time whistle at Bournemouth.

It’s understood the Friedkin’s wanted to give Dyche time and had hoped he’d be able to push Everton up the league.

However, it’s not transpired like that and they’re now considering a change ahead of the Peterborough game in the FA Cup.

If Dyche is sacked, Myers believes former Chelsea and Brighton manager Graham Potter will be the number one target for the American investors.

Myers also ruled out David Moyes as a possible hire.

Myers says Potter fits the criteria

Myers added that Potter fits the criteria for Everton as it’s believed the Friedkin’s want to appoint a manager who’s ready to go and out of work.

The 49-year-old has been out of work since April 2023 – when he was sacked ruthlessly by Chelsea after a short stint in charge.

Potter’s ability to rebuild and lead a project suits the Toffees who have a really ageing squad. They are only behind West Ham United for the highest average age in the Premier League.

The new owners clearly want a forward-thinking manager and are keen to move away from the defensive style Dyche has implemented.

So, at this stage, all roads lead to Potter.
