Alan Myers shares what he’s heard out of the US as potential Everton takeover delay mooted

The Everton takeover saga has now gone on for well over one year now with fans hoping for a resolution to be found.

Sean Dyche’s side are stumbling along in the league with their performances summing up the club’s state of limbo as they look for new ownership.

The Friedkin Group are close to taking over Everton, but the deal has not quite been finalised just yet.

It has now been months since the Friedkins were handed exclusivity in their talks with Farhad Moshiri over the potential acquisition of the club.

With the end of the year and the start of the January transfer window nearing, Everton are hoping to see the new ownership in place over the coming weeks.

The Friedkin’s Everton takeover going ahead despite legal battle

There has been an ongoing battle between A-Cap and Leadenhall involving the £200m investment received by Everton from 777 Partners last year, according to The Athletic.

However, Sky Sports reporter Alan Myers has reassured fans that the ongoing issues in the US will not be affecting The Friedkin Group’s takeover.

“My understanding is that the issue in the US would have no bearing on the takeover being completed in the timescale previously, and currently, suggested,” said Myers.

This will come as huge news for those at Goodison with The Friedkin’s already eyeing David Moyes to potentially replace Dyche in the dugout.

It now just feels like a matter of time until the new owners could hold the keys for Everton with approval already from the FA and FCA.

Everton need clarity on their takeover before January

The January transfer window is going to offer the new proposed owners on Merseyside an opportunity to invest in their squad.

However, they need to get through the doors first with the takeover still not finalised weeks on from sealing approval.

The Friedkin’s are already planning January signings at Everton, which is a positive sign for the Toffees.
