It was a disappointing afternoon for Everton and David Moyes as Man City prevailed at Goodison Park.
The 2-0 win has given the Toffees a bit of a dampener after a valiant display, but the last 20 minutes showed Moyes that there is still plenty of work to be done.
Everton will feel the scoreline was flattering, but the overall atmosphere of the game showed much respect as Everton fans applauded Kevin De Bruyne.
The result might have just been a jump back to reality after Moyes’ side scored late on to beat Nottingham Forest.
It probably has just given them a gentle reminder, but Moyes also got a reminder about one Everton player.

Don Hutchinson said Michael Keane did something unforgivable in Everton vs Man City
With the defeat, it won’t tarnish what Moyes has done in a short amount of time, it’s just a disappointment to see a defeat at Goodison after so long.
Evertonians gave respect to City, but the City fans mocked Everton over Premier League charges, which won’t have sat well with the Toffees faithful.
But it was more concerning to see James Tarkowski get injured, which lead to a rare appearance of Michael Keane, and to put it nicely, there’s a reason why it’s rare.
The defender came on in the 52nd minute and looked a calamity, which won’t have impressed Moyes.
Pundit Don Hutchinson spoke to the Premier League during the TV coverage and claimed that Keane had a shocking second-half performance and pinpointed how he let City have a clear chance.
“He was all over the place,” Hutchinson said.
“He’s on a yellow card and not strong enough. You can’t let that ball bounce. You’ve got to be stronger.”

Chris Sutton not happy with Keane as Everton end is nigh
Moyes will have watched this performance and know that Keane needs to leave in the summer.
The centre-back hasn’t been involved much at all this season, as the City game was just his 11th league outing.
Keane came close to leaving Everton but chose to stay, however Moyes won’t give him that choice this summer, and his performance tells the full story.
| Keane’s statistics in Everton 0-2 Man City | |
| Minutes played | 38 |
| Touches | 17 |
| Long ball accuracy % | 0% |
| Dribbled past | 3 |
| Ground duels won % | 0% (0/3) |
Chris Sutton on BBC Radio 5 Live wasn’t happy with Keane’s involvement in Nico O’Reilly’s goal, as had Tarkowski been on the pitch, it would’ve been preventable.
Sutton said: “Nico O’Reilly gets across Michael Keane, who has not covered himself in glory since coming on for Tarkowski.
“This would be an enormous three points. They don’t deserve it.”
Keane’s display did give City a potential undeserved three points, and with his contract expiring in the summer, it’s time to go for the centre-back.
