Everton fans were irate after hearing Jarrad Branthwaite wasn’t starting against Southampton, and another selection decision has been brought to attention after the West Ham clash.

Sean Dyche opted for two changes to the side that were on the receiving end of a loss against Southampton, as Jarrad Branthwaite and Abdoulaye Doucoure came in for Everton.

Branthwaite’s influence was felt throughout as he seemed to bring out a slightly better performance from Vitalii Mykolenko, keeping him grounded at times.

Doucoure put himself about and worked hard, but using him in more of an advanced role just didn’t make sense and he offered very little in the final third.

However, it was a different decision when it came to the team selection that really grinded the gears of a number of Everton fans.

Sean Dyche continues to ignore Iliman Ndiaye in the 10 position

Iliman Ndiaye has been one of the standout performers for Everton so far this season, and was one of the shining lights in terms of outfield players against West Ham.

However, the creativity is non existent through the middle, despite space constantly opening up.

Everton really missed the chance to punish West Ham. They had the perfect weapon with Ndiaye’s pace and power but Dyche just doesn’t know how to use him.

The Senegal international has predominantly operated in the number 10 role at previous clubs, and that’s the position he played in which really caught the eyes of teams during his Sheffield United days.

Everton fans have already called for Ndiaye to play in the number 10 role this season.

Everton fans react to Sean Dyche’s selection at number 10

These Everton fans, when speaking on X, all brought up the point of Ndiaye not operating in the number 10 role, and a couple were even fed up with Dyche’s inability to notice it’s his best position.

“Why isn’t Ndiaye behind the striker!! Get Doucoure off for Beto and push him up there as well and go for it!!!!”, @sgefc21 said.

@ShaySweeney1962 made the suggestion: “Ndiaye man of the match. Should be playing No. 10.”

@Danthedon1878 stated: “I agree tbf any scenario where ndiaye is in the 10 we’d instantly become a better side.”

@robevo1878 mentioned: “Hows the manager not playing him in the 10 role? It’s baffling.”

“Why not play our best player Ndiaye, in his best position?”, @Littlefield79 said is confused why he’s not being used in his best position.

@Keith19102295 commented: “Please lads just put Ndiaye behind the striker i can’t watch doucoure trampoline shins anymore.”
