Jean-Philippe Gbamin wants to end his contract with Everton today.
BBC journalist Shamoon Hafez has reported that the midfielder’s agent has played down rumours of Cadiz CF’s interest, but he remains eager to leave the club.
Gbamin joined Everton from Mainz for £25 million in 2019 but was unable to kickstart his new adventure after suffering a series of injuries.
The Ivorian was sent out on loan to CSKA Moscow and Trabzonspor and now looks set to leave Goodison Park after making only seven appearances in all competitions.
Gbamin only has a year left on his contract on Merseyside and was expected to leave this summer, though it now looks like the club have a lot of work to do on transfer deadline day.
Will Everton sell Jean-Philippe Gbamin today?
Spanish publication El Desmarque reported this week that Cadiz were looking to offer Gbamin an escape route before the deadline, however the 27-year-old’s agent has claimed there has been no contact made with the Spanish outfit.

Taking to Twitter, Hafez said: ‘”Been told by Jean-Philippe Gbamin’s agent that he has had “no contact from any club” about signing him – Cadiz reports “not true”. Said Everton have put a £5m pricetag on him, but midfielder “hoping to find solution to end his contract”.’
Everton are clearly desperate to offload Gbamin as they look to sell him for only a fifth of what they paid for him four years ago.
However, they could be forced to agree to terminate the midfielder’s contract if they struggle to find a club willing to pay the fee. The Ivory Coast is said to earn around £75,000-a-week at Goodison Park – more than the likes of Seamus Coleman, Dwight McNeil and James Garner.
