Everton’s summer has not exactly got off to a flyer, with three signings in the books as August nears.

David Moyes will have been hoping for more than two new faces, and Carlos Alcaraz signed permanently.

In fact, Moyes has been publicly demanding more Everton signings in recent weeks.

The Toffees are set to depart for the United States in the coming hours leaving any further additions in time for the flight unlikely.

Everton are finding themselves short in a number of areas, both in quality and in quantity following a number of departures in June.

Interest from Everton has grown in Ben Doak from Liverpool this summer, with the youngster’s future hanging in the balance.

As Liverpool resumes their own summer plans, an update on the winger has just emerged.

Ben Doak handed Liverpool ultimatum amid Everton interest

A transfer between the two Merseyside rivals would certainly be a shock given how many years it has been since the last time they did business together.

However, Everton are looking to pay £15m for Doak, with Liverpool looking for a fee in the region of £30m this summer.

According to The Athletic, Doak has now returned to Liverpool training and has been handed an ultimatum this summer.

It is now Doak’s opportunity to either impress Arne Slot, or to put himself in the shop window for another club to sign.

Considering the money the Reds have spent already this summer, Doak is certainly going to face a big challenge to prove his worth.

Crystal Palace are also showing an interest in Doak this summer.

Dealing to their rivals will be the last thing Liverpool will want to do, but it may be an option they have to take up later in the window.

Everton need creative additions this summer

The opening two games of pre-season have only highlighted the need for more attacking additions to be signed.

Everton have £100m to spend this summer, and £27m of that has already been spent on Thierno Barry.

The young striker has now joined up with his new teammates at Finch Farm ahead of the trip to the United States.

If Everton want Barry to succeed, they are going to have to provide him with players who can create opportunities for him.

Of course, Iliman Ndiaye has just returned to training, but there is a real lack of exciting options coming from the right wing.

Youngster Isaac Heath has impressed Everton in pre-season, but Moyes will want established starters ahead of the new season kicking off.
