If you can’t beat them, sign them – and David Moyes could now do that for Everton with Callum Wilson.

It has been claimed that Everton hold an interest in Callum Wilson, as the club seek to land a new striker this month.

Everton are prioritising a new right-back in this window.

But there is still scope for the club to sign a new centre-forward if the right deal presents itself, given the struggles of Thierno Barry and Beto.

Yesterday, there was strong speculation that Everton were interested in Youssef En-Nesyri.

Reportedly, Everton made a loan offer with an option to buy the Fenerbahce star, who will come up against Iliman Ndiaye and Idrissa Gana Gueye in the final of AFCON on Sunday as Morocco take on Senegal.

But Callum Wilson is also now a possibility for Everton – and it’s little wonder Moyes wants to sign him.

Quite a lot of Everton fans are against any signing of Wilson.

Of course, his injury record is far from ideal, with the 33-year-old spending a lot of time in the treatment room during his career.

Despite this though, Wilson has often been a thorn in the side of David Moyes.

Wilson has made 10 appearances against David Moyes teams, scoring six goals. Five of those goals came while he was playing for Newcastle United, and one came back in when he played for Bournemouth back in 2017/18.

Would YOU take Callum Wilson at Everton? 🤔

He can boast 92 goals in 256 Premier League appearances… ⚽️

All of the strikes came when Moyes was managing West Ham, an opponent that Wilson simply loves scoring against having bagged 12 in total against the Hammers in his career.

And Wilson has also generally been a nuisance for Everton down the years, scoring eight goals in 11 games against the Toffees.

Wilson a risk worth taking for Everton

It will be really interesting to see if anything comes of this.

Wilson is undoubtedly a good striker who is proven at Premier League level, and Moyes has been on the receiving end of his goalscoring ability many times.

But the injury record obviously makes him a risk.

But Everton have struggled so much up top this season with Thierno Barry and Beto that it perhaps makes Wilson a risk worth taking.

A move for Wilson would cast doubt on Beto’s future, and Wilson could potentially then serve as a mentor to the younger Barry.
