Everton are set for a huge summer – and one of the club’s targets looks to have made a good impression on Carlo Ancelotti.

Everton look set to miss out on European football for 2026/27 after record draws with Manchester City and Crystal Palace last week.

David Moyes had got Everton into such a good position.

Which of these players do you want to see Everton SIGN in 2026?

But the Toffees have lost all momentum at completely the wrong time, and are likely now looking at a season without Europe.

While that is frustrating, Everton getting into Europe would have been overachieving.

The club have still made good progress under The Friedkin Group.

But expectations will be much bigger next season, and solid recruitment will be so vital this summer.

And one player said to be on Everton’s radar is Gabriel Sara.

It was reported a few weeks ago that Everton have a ‘clear interest’ in Sara, who used to play on English shores with Norwich City.

He is expected to leave Galatasaray this summer, and a number of clubs have been linked with the midfielder.

It was today reported that Sara could cost around £34 million, so he would not come cheap.

But he could well be worth it because one man who clearly likes what he sees is Carlo Ancelotti, who has just called the player into his preliminary World Cup Brazil squad.

The former Everton manager has called up 55 players, and he will slash that to 26 for the finals.

But Sara will hope to make the final cut. Ancelotti did hand him his debut for Brazil in the March international break.

After that game, Ancelotti gave general praise to the debutants that played, saying: “I think the progress of the new players who played today for the first time was very good, very positive.”

Everton not overly desperate for Sara

It will be interesting to see if Ancelotti keeps Sara in his final squad – he’s certainly done well this season for Gala, scoring six goals and making five assists.

The fact he’s clearly on Ancelotti’s radar at the moment suggests he really does have something about him.

That said, Everton currently have several midfield options.

Realistically, a move for Sara would only really make sense if one or two left.

Charly Alcaraz has struggled for minutes this term, and the likes of Merlin Rohl and Tim Iroegbunam have also been on the fringes for large parts of the season.

Harrison Armstrong has also lacked opportunities in recent weeks.
