Everton have been quiet in the January transfer window so far, but there could yet be an exit for a Toffees player.

The club are working behind the scenes to see if there are deals that can be done this month.

Everton have been exploring the market for a new right-back and a new striker, but will only act if the deal perfectly suits the club’s needs.

As well as players being linked with Everton, there have also been suggestions that some could leave, with the likes of Nathan Patterson and Beto having been linked with exits.

But another player who could potentially be on his way out before the window closes is Tim Iroegbunam.

According to The iPaper, Iroegbunam is now attracting interest from Championship clubs.

The midfielder has made 19 appearances so far this season, and has done relatively well in the absence of Idrissa Gana Gueye lately.

Iroegbunam’s display against Wolves was especially impressive, but sadly he then picked up an injury which ruled him out of the Sunderland game.

He also could face his old club Aston Villa.

Seemingly Iroegbunam has admirers in the English second tier. But it is actually stated by The iPaper that Everton will block outgoings this month.

Everton midfield situation is healthy for David Moyes

At the moment, the midfield situation at Everton is very positive.

James Garner is in tremendous form and looks like he’ll be starting every match moving forward.

Young Harrison Armstrong has been a breath of fresh air since returning from his loan at Preston, and he could well be kept beyond the current transfer window.

Merlin Rohl shone against Aston Villa and hopefully he’ll now kick on.

And in a big boost for David Moyes, Idrissa Gana Gueye is returning from AFCON this week, and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is back in light training and will soon be available.

Iroegbunam will have a fight on his hands to play regular minutes, so that perhaps explains why Championship clubs are keen.

But clearly Everton are placing real emphasis on strength in depth, meaning Iroegbunam will have little choice but to step up and fight for his place.
