Everton take on Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday night, looking to secure their first victory of 2026.
Jake O’Brien admitted Everton were really fatigued against Brentford, which explains the drab performance they put in.
That said, David Moyes must make changes to his starting line-up to combat the tiredness around Finch Farm.

Chris Sutton can’t believe how poor Thierno Barry and Beto have been at Everton
Writing in his BBC Sport column, Sutton has given his prediction for Everton vs Wolves, and he also touched on how shocked he is by how poor Barry and Beto have been.
“Everton boss David Moyes could do with some reinforcements in the January transfer window, but I don’t see his side losing two on the spin at home,” the 52-year-old explained.
Thomas Kirk has been appointed referee for Everton vs Wolves….
He's never refereed an Everton game before 🤔
“The Toffees were well beaten by Brentford on Sunday but this seems like a good opportunity for them to get back on track.
“Their strikers Beto and Thierno Barry both scored in the same game against the Bees. Watching them struggle this season, that is unbelievable, really.
“Moyes probably thinks that is typical, for them to score when it doesn’t really matter, but maybe one of them will net when it does count, here.”
Sutton’s prediction: 2-1
Everton have a shortlist of striking options
It has been reported that Everton have a three-man striker shortlist, with Artem Dovbyk, Jorgen Strand Larsen and Ivan Toney the targets.
Alan Myers admitted he’d absolutely love Toney, but unfortunately, the deal has been deemed quite unlikely to materialise.
AZ Alkmaar’s Troy Parrott is also on Everton’s radar, and the board have been informed that it’d cost £31m to land his signature.
Would Troy Parrott catapult Everton into Europe? 🎯
There has been discourse among the fanbase over whether Barry and Beto can now kick on following their goals against Brentford, so perhaps Moyes may reconsider his plans.
But, for now, all the rumours point towards a striker joining the Merseysiders this month.
