Chris Sutton has dropped a verdict on the next Everton game against Aston Villa in the Premier League.

Everton will be desperate to pick up all three points this weekend against Aston Villa to put an end to the current four-game league losing streak.

Sean Dyche‘s side have really struggled in the absence of star man and top scorer Abdoulaye Doucoure – although he is potentially in line to return this weekend which would be huge.

Everton needs points desperately, sitting just one point above the relegation zone with Luton having a game in hand – they could overtake Everton tonight. Against title-challenging Villa, this won’t be easy, but it’s now been suggested that if Everton click it could be a long day for Unai Emery’s side.

With a further possible FFP punishment also a concern, Everton needs to win as many games as possible risk relegation becoming a real threat once more.

Chris Sutton on Everton

In advance of the game, BBC pundit Chris Sutton has been sharing his views on the upcoming game in which he predicted a 1-1 result.

He explained: “Everton, meanwhile, are desperate for a result because those defeats have left them only a point above the relegation zone, and they could even be back in the bottom three by kick-off if Luton beat Burnley on Friday.

“Eventually, though, I think Everton will get things together again under Sean Dyche. It’s just a question of when he gets them in gear, and you don’t want to meet them the day that happens.”

A clear warning was sent here to Unai Emery that if he meets the Goodison Park outfit on their day, there could be a surprise result in the offing.

Everton can send a real statement here

Everton can get themselves back on track here, with a win laying down a marker for the rest of the league.

It’s a game in which the Toffees can’t afford to suffer another heavy defeat, given how the previous month has gone.

If the Toffees can return to the form they showed in Early December then safety should be a given, but if not it could be a long four months for Dyche in which he’ll come under serious pressure.
