Everton look set to sign a new right-back before the 5pm transfer deadline on Monday.

A deal for Brooke Norton-Cuffy is being targeted by The Friedkin Group as the clock ticks down, with Fabrizio Romano claiming earlier this week that Everton had restarted negotiations with Genoa.

Now, an update has emerged from Tutto Mercato Web – who believe Genoa are even open to an initial loan deal for the England U21 international.

Everton are keen on signing Brooke Norton-Cuffy… are there other positions more important than right-back this transfer window?

Genoa open to sending Brooke Norton-Cuffy on loan to Everton with delayed payment

The Italian news outlet say Genoa want €20m (£17m) to sell the right-back, but are actually open to receiving that payment in the summer transfer window after an initial loan deal.

Arranging the deal in that manner gives The Friedkin Group more cash to play with this month and potentially make another signing, with the £17m asking price not needing to be sent to Genoa until after June 30th – the cut off point for PSR (Profit and Sustainability Rules).

Tutto Mercato Web do stress that Genoa would like at least €4m (£3m) paid upfront for the loan, but the Serie A side are open to accepting the remaining €16m (£14m) this summer.

Genoa paid just £1.7m to sign Norton-Cuffy from Arsenal back in August 2024, so a £17m sale would represent a huge profit for the Italian outfit. Therefore, you can understand why they are open to helping Everton facilitate the deal in any way possible.

That is not to say Genoa are rushing the 22-year-old out of the exit door because they feel he is not worth that much, but the financial gap between Serie A sides and Premier League clubs is simply astronomical nowadays, so they cannot afford to miss out on this opportunity.

Who Everton could sign in addition to Brooke Norton-Cuffy with money saved from potential loan

A new forward could arrive at Everton before the 5pm transfer deadline on Monday.

ESPN believe Everton are in advanced talks with Al-Nassr over a deal for Wesley Gassova, who plays on the left flank.

The timing of that story is particularly intriguing, considering the Toffees just lost an option in that position after Jack Grealish broke his foot.

Everton striker Thierno Barry.

Reports elsewhere in Italy add that Everton have enquired about Luis Henrique of Inter Milan, although Bournemouth have put a £26m bid on the table.

Furthermore, Raheem Sterling – who Everton considered last summer – has also just become a free agent after Chelsea terminated his contract.

So, if anybody is likely to follow Norton-Cuffy to Merseyside, we feel it would be a new attacker.
