Everton fans have already warmed to a Brazilian forward in recent years.

Richarlison became a fan favourite for the Toffees across his 152 Everton appearances, scoring 53 goals while also providing 15 assists before departing for Tottenham in 2022.

Everton are now trying to sign another Brazilian attacker as talks advance with Al-Nassr over a deal for Wesley Gassova, a player who has excitingly been likened to Kylian Mbappe in his homeland.

What people in Brazil say about Wesley Gassova as Everton lurk

As far back as 2024 when the South American was just 19, his talents were covered by Foot Mercato as OGC Nice considered signing him from Corinthians.

Within the report, Wesley was described as a “Brazilian phenomenon” who is often compared to Mbappe in Brazil, having burst onto the scene with Corinthians before a £20m move to Al-Nassr in August 2024.

With ESPN Brasil now suggesting Everton are in advanced talks with the Saudi Arabian side over a deal for the 20-year-old, there is reason for those at the Hill Dickinson Stadium to be very excited indeed.

That same report mentions that Wesley is “one of Brazil’s best dribblers” – claiming that, at Corinthians, he attempted over ten dribbles per game with a 60% success rate, which is a superb return.

The Al-Nassr No.80 is also similar to Mbappe due to the fact he lines up on the left flank, but cuts inside on his stronger right foot.

Cafu seems to agree with the hype surrounding Wesley, previously calling his fellow countryman the “next joy” of Brazilian football.

Having lost Jack Grealish to a broken foot, David Moyes could certainly use a fresh face on that wing, so it would be a welcome development if an agreement can be found with Al-Nassr.

Everton have a backup plan in mind

ESPN Brasil say Everton are leading the race for Wesley, but if talks happen to collapse for any reason, the Toffees seem to have an alternative.

Reports in Italy say Everton have asked Inter Milan about Luis Henrique – although Aston Villa and Bournemouth have also been in contact over the Brazilian.

Whatever happens, The Friedkin Group are clearly looking to bring some South American flair to Merseyside this winter.
