Everton are already making plans for the summer transfer window.

David Moyes and his recruitment chiefs are in the process of identifying a number of targets for what’s expected to be a very bust window at Everton.

Moyes would really like to sign Tomas Soucek and it’s understood the West Ham United midfielder would be open to joining the Merseysiders if his game time doesn’t improve.

Everton are also in the market for a centre-forward, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Armando Broja set to depart.

Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap is being linked with a move to Goodison Park, though, there is serious competition for his signature.

On the outgoing front, an Everton star has now come out and dropped a hint that he could be set to leave the club.

Asmir Begovic hints he could leave Everton this summer

Asmir Begovic, who’s had two spells at Everton, is a well-liked member of the dressing room.

Jarrad Branthwaite has labelled Begovic as a leader, so whilst he hasn’t played this season, he’s clearly still a valuable player to have around.

However, with Begovic’s contract up in the summer, there’s been talk of a departure and speaking to Sky Sports News (April 27), he appeared to hint that his time on Merseyside is almost up.

“Personally, I’ve had a great time at Everton, with the fans, teammates, support staff – it’s a great place to work,” the 37-year-old said.

“In terms of what’s going to happen going forward, there’s conversations to be had now. We wanted to focus on securing safety.

“When you get older you have to make collective decisions – I have a family to think of now. So you pick the best option available when these options come along.”

Everton should tie down Joao Virginia to new deal

If indeed Begovic leaves, Everton should certainly offer Joao Virginia a new contract.

The 25-year-old, who’s made two appearances this term, is currently set to become a free agent at the start of July.

Virginia initially wanted to leave Goodison in search of regular first-team football elsewhere, but he recently admitted he’d like to stay.

“It’s Everton that has to trigger the option. I’m hoping they do, to be fair, because I love the club, I love everything around it,” the Portuguese shot-stopper said.

“I’m very settled on Merseyside. My priority would be playing more games, and if I can do that, Everton would be amazing.

“It is not an easy spot to be in, being a backup. It’s something that weighs on your mind, it’s tough, it gets you tired because ideally you want to be playing more and more.”
