‘Crazy in my opinion’ – Everton fans can’t believe what’s happened on deadline day

Everton have made some solid decisions this summer, but the fanbase are not too pleased with the latest choice.

The Friedkin Group have made most of the right moves this summer window, with it being clear that the new era represents a time of change.

Deadline day has been as absurd as the overall window, with Merlin Rohl to become Everton’s ninth summer signing.

On the other side of things, Nathan Patterson’s Sevilla loan move has collapsed, as it’s all happening.

But although there is debate around these scenarios, it’s one decision that has been made at Everton, which has caused uproar.

Everton fans are not happy that Harrison Armstrong is joining Preston on loan

The window slams shut at 7pm, and there are still plenty of areas to be solved by the hierarchy.

One of which is Harrison Armstrong’s future, as there has been a dispute over whether the 18-year-old should be loaned out.

Well, Armstrong is set to join Preston on loan, with David Moyes clearly seeing that he needs more development, but Evertonians are not happy in the slightest.

One Everton fan wrote: “Shame, I think the lads ready for the big time,” with another adding: “Should be going out to a European club at a higher level.”

“Huge mistake – can flourish at Everton,” a supporter said, with one suggesting he deserves his chance in the first-team: “He’s had a year in the championship already, at some point he needs to be given his opportunity. He will be coached by inferior coaching staff. Crazy in my opinion.”

“Madness,” another said, as it seems the overall consensus doesn’t look like a good one: “Big no no.”

You can understand the anger from the Toffees faithful who were full of praise for Armstrong’s Mansfield performance, as he was rightly awarded Man of the Match.

But there is a silver lining to this deal, and it comes from Everton’s history with Preston.

Harrison Armstrong can follow the Preston trend of Everton success stories

Although it’s not gone down too well with the fans, this loan move shouldn’t be doubted too much.

Moyes has praised Armstrong’s potential, and the young Toffee will no doubt be an integral part of the club’s future.

But after the past business with Preston, following the loan moves of Anthony Gordon and Tom Cannon, this could be the right destination for the midfielder’s development in the game.

Although Gordon didn’t quite shine like Cannon, it’s clear that the move to the Championship club helped him massively, and that’s now being shown at Newcastle United.

Preston fans also love Lewis Dobbin, as it seems there is an Everton 2.0 taking place in the second tier.

It’s a safe place for Armstrong to improve, and knowing a few familiar faces will help him along the way.
