It was not very festive of Neal Maupay in hitting out against his parent side following Everton’s latest defeat.
The French striker remains an Everton player, having left the club on yet another loan deal after failing to impress on Merseyside.
Maupay has become a divisive figure in the game with the majority of his action coming off the pitch on his social media channels.
Even the John Lennon Airport account hit back at Maupay with his comments leaving a real bitter taste to many.
Having returned to his homeland for the season, Maupay is running the risk of potentially leaving himself in a sticky situation as he may need to return to Merseyside.

Darren Bent urges Sean Dyche to strike Neal Maupay revenge at Everton
Considering Maupay has as many yellow cards as goals in Ligue 1 since leaving Everton, it was a brave call to make by saying such things about his parent club.
Speaking on TalkSPORT, the former Premier League striker hit out at Maupay calling for Everton to get their own back.
“First and foremost, the guy’s scored two goals for Everton; that’s just appalling, yeah. But secondly, you have to be careful. I know that it looks like he’s doing a good job, and that he could sta, I think, is there an obligation to buy him? Or maybe buy him?” said Bent.
“You never know in football things might change, and all of a sudden he doesn’t get bought. He has to go back to that football club.
“If I’m Sean Dyche and he has to come back I’m putting him out. There like you want to beef with your club? I put my bench, I make him warm up in front of the fans, they would absolutely hammer him for that.”
The 28-year-old is running a real fine line considering his contract at Everton still has another year to run following the end of the season.
Maupay also predicted Everton to be relegated this season, which could come back to bite him if Marseille do not make his stay permanent.
What Dyche said about Maupay’s Everton comments
Maupay made it clear he wanted to leave Everton and took to social media to share his delight after the deal went through.
But his move has hardly lit the French league on fire having returned two goals in 11 appearances for Marseille.
Speaking in his Thursday press conference, Dyche admitted he was not taking too much from Maupay’s social media antics.
“I think it’s fair to say there’s a bigger picture to Everton Football Club that I’m focusing on,” he said.
“I don’t think I need to be too worried by his comments. I don’t think we’ll be worried about [disciplinary action].”
Considering how much the comments will have wound some fans up, Dyche has reacted very professionally about the matter.
