Everton supporters are bound to enjoy what the official John Lennon Airport account has posted on X about Neal Maupay.

The striker is currently on loan at Marseille from Everton, and will become their permanent player next summer via an obligation clause.

He may still technically be on the books at Everton. But that has not stopped him from expressing his true feelings about the club.

In the aftermath of Everton’s defeat to Nottingham Forest on Sunday, Maupay took to X to fire shots at the club.

He wrote: “Whenever I’m having a bad day I just check the Everton score and smile.”

Everton fans have slammed Maupay for his disrespectful comment, while some others have just found his posts laughable, given how shocking he was for the club.

Those fans will surely enjoy what the John Lennon Airport X account has posted today.

After writing his initial post, Maupay then suggested that Everton would be relegated come next year.

The Frenchman endured a miserable spell at Goodison Park, making 29 appearances for the club after signing in 2022.

Last season he re-joined his former club Brentford on loan, before going to Marseille this season.

Upon making that move, Maupay caused outrage by posting a picture of a scene from the Shawshank Redemption, where the main character is depicted celebrating his freedom.

Maupay has an intense dislike for Everton, and the feelings from fans are mutual.

So those fans will have quite enjoyed what the official John Lennon Airport account on X wrote earlier today.

The account quoted an old message it received from a user that said: “Okay but what’s worse than missing your flight bro?”

They wrote in response to that message today: “Not much. Maybe watching Neal Maupay play football.”

Alan Myers reported earlier today that Everton are aware of the posts made by Maupay, and that the matter will be dealt with ‘internally and privately’.

How many goals did Maupay score for Everton?

Everton signed Maupay from Brentford in 2022 for a fee thought to be around £15 million.

He arrived at the club having scored nine goals in 35 appearances in his final season at Brighton, and there was optimism that he could score at least semi-regularly in an Everton shirt.

But Maupay proved to be an awful signing, and managed to score just one goal in 32 appearances for the club.

And there wasn’t much in the way of creativity either, with Maupay supplying a paltry two assists.

Without doubt, he is one of the worst transfer deals of the Farhad Moshiri era.
