David Moyes can get revenge on West Ham by signing £30m star for Everton after Evan Ferguson defeat

West Ham United are set to beat Everton in the race to sign Evan Ferguson this winter transfer window.

West Ham have booked a medical for Ferguson after agreeing a six-month loan deal with Brighton and Hove Albion.

Everton had been interested in Ferguson, but they will now have to turn their attention to other targets with the deadline rapidly approaching.

It’s understood the Toffees have looked at Rangers’ Hamza Igamane, but that deal just isn’t feasible this month, with PSR issues still looming.

Everton could now turn towards a striker who West Ham have targetted as a development on his situation emerges.

Everton should try to sign Andre Silva

West Ham were in talks to sign RB Leipzig centre-forward Andre Silva before they stole a march in the race to sign Ferguson.

That leaves Silva available so Everton should certainly try to rival Werder Bremen for his signature, but they’ll need to be quick.

Plettenberg has just advanced the story and claimed that Silva has verbally agreed personal terms with the Bundesliga outfit.

But he’s stressed that the two clubs are yet to strike an agreement, leaving a window of opportunity for the Toffees, who remain open to doing a late deal.

Everton have their two domestic loan spots filled by Jack Harrison and Armando Broja, but because the £30m-rated Silva is plying his trade overseas, that would allow him to join on a temporary deal.

Everton can’t sign any more players on loan from within England, though.

Silva would provide Beto with much-needed competition

At the moment, Beto is the only fit and available number nine at the club with Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Broja injured.

So even if Silva isn’t the ideal signing – with his lack of goals in Germany this term – he’d still be a valuable asset to Moyes.

Beto needs competition and Moyes can’t afford to rely on a largely unproven forward aside from his spell at Udinese.

So a six-month loan deal for Silva makes complete sense.
