Everton fans are hoping that more new faces will be arriving at the club soon, after the appointment of David Moyes

Everton sacked Sean Dyche last week just hours before the FA Cup game with Peterborough United.

The timing of the news came as a real surprise. But for many the writing was on the wall for Dyche after a string of awful performances, and details that have emerged since his sacking suggest The Friedkin Group had no real choice.

Dyche told The Friedkin Group he felt he’d take the team as far as he could, and the new owners had to act.

David Moyes has come in as Dyche’s successor, and he’ll speak to the media later today at the first press conference of his second spell in charge.

It’s possible he could be asked about targets, and he may well provide an update on Ernest Nuamah, the Lyon star Everton are interested in.

It was reported last week that Ernest Nuamah was ‘one step away’ from agreeing a move to Everton.

This claim came after Everton actually showed interest in Nuamah last summer, but no approach was ever made.

In the last few days, there haven’t been any claims about any kind of progress over this deal.

But given the extremely underwhelming performances of the Everton attackers this season, Toffees fans will really hope there will be developments soon.

Ernest Nuamah could David Moyes’ new Mohammed Kudus at Everton

Things didn’t really end in the best way for Moyes at West Ham, with a lot of fans being very vocal for him to be sacked.

In the end, the West Ham board obliged and Moyes left the club with Julen Lopetegui replacing him. The Spaniard has since been sacked.

But Moyes did a great job at the London Stadium and one of his big player success stories was Mohammed Kudus.

Signed on Moyes’ watch, Kudus made 45 appearances under the Scot and scored 14 goals and made six assists, establishing himself as one of the Irons’ best players.

It’s interesting that Everton are currently linked with Nuamah, because there are certainly similarities between the two players.

Nuamah – who cost Lyon £24 million – is from Ghana like Kudus, and also plays on either wing just like his compatriot.

The pair are almost the exact same height, and also play in a similar way.

According to Football Talent Scout, Nuamah is ‘very strong in 1v1 situations, unpredictable, and confident of his skills’. In this sense, he’s not so dissimilar to Kudus, with Breaking The Lines saying that ‘Kudus’ 1v1 prowess and direct style of play is what makes him such a deadly RW’.

FTS also said that Nuamah is a player with ‘creative player with very good technical ability’, while BTL said that Kudus’ ‘technical ability and game understanding make him very dangerous.’

Kudus – who was actually on Everton’s radar a couple of years ago (via De Telegraaf) – was a big player for Moyes at West Ham, and given Nuamah is a very comparable player, there’s every chance the new Everton manager will be pushing to sign 21-year-old.
