Everton have firmly moved on from Dominic Calvert-Lewin in a big decision made by David Moyes.
After leaving on a free this summer, Calvert-Lewin’s nine-season tenure as a Toffees player came to an end.
It was a tough decision to make by both player and club, but the result seemed to be the best choice for all parties concerned.
Now, Moyes can look forward to the Thierno Barry era, with the Frenchman potentially being the man to solve their goalscoring problems.
As for the former Everton striker, 15 teams were interested in Calvert-Lewin, and after talks, he made a very bold request.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin made £150k wage demand to Leeds United after Everton exit
With Moyes already looking at any way to save money this summer, letting go of the 28-year-old seemed the best way forward.
Everton should have had £100 million to spend this window, and keeping Calvert-Lewin’s excessive £100k-a-week wage wasn’t sustainable.
The fact of the matter was proved, as despite not getting his demands from the Merseyside club, he instead requested much more from Leeds United.
Being revealed by talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook, the free agent supposedly demanded ‘£150k-a-week’ with Crook saying: “He held talks with Leeds and they backed off.”
Alan Brazil, who was on the show with the journalist, couldn’t believe what he was hearing and said, “No. 150k a week?”
As Calvert-Lewin’s search for a new club goes on, his high wage might scare off interested clubs.
Indeed, it frightened the Toffees manager, and Everton have certainly got away with one after they refused to keep the forward on.
Everton should be relieved they didn’t keep Dominic Calvert-Lewin
After continuous injuries, it was right that Everton and Calvert-Lewin parted ways.
But what he wanted in wages should be stressed more, as it could be likely that the striker demanded this much in talks over a possible new deal at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Calvert-Lewin was nowhere near a new Everton deal, and after this fresh plea, it’s making more sense why Moyes didn’t want to keep him on.
There should be relief in the Toffees camp as The Friedkin Group have been smart to let go of two of their three highest earners, with Abdoulaye Doucoure’s £130k-a-week salary also off the wage bill.
Everton’s top three earners are certainly looking a lot healthier now, as it reflects well on the owners.
| Jordan Pickford | £125k-a-week |
| Jarrad Branthwaite | £120k-a-week |
| James Tarkowski | £100k-a-week |
After 71 goals for the Blues, it’s no disrespect to the striker’s tenure, but having someone unreliable on those wages is a major red flag and has been smartly rectified by The Friedkins.
