Everton fully expect Jarrad Branthwaite to return for their pre-season efforts.

The 23-year-old missed the final games of the season following his latest hamstring injury suffered in the Merseyside derby.

Branthwaite missed most of the season due to hamstring surgery, but this latest issue is not expected to be anywhere near as severe.

No win in any of Everton’s last five games… what would you say to David Moyes? 🫣

“Jarrad Branthwaite continues to make strong progress in his recovery from a hamstring injury – the 23 year old is still at the MYOS clinic in Munich – and is expected to be heavily involved throughout Everton’s pre-season preparations,” he said.

Everton quickly ruled Branthwaite out for the remainder of the season following his latest issue picked up against Liverpool.

The 23-year-old defender did not hide his emotions at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, either.

That proved a huge concern for the Everton fans, given Branthwaite is all too aware of what a severe hamstring injury feels like.

It is important that David Moyes and Everton take this as a warning, as the defender has escaped another really serious setback.

Everton were warned over Branthwaite’s fitness just weeks before this happened in the derby.

Clearly, the defender is susceptible to hamstring injuries, which are going to have to be managed by limiting his minutes through squad rotation.

This is something from which a number of players could potentially benefit under Moyes.
