David Moyes has no choice but to drop Dwight McNeil for Everton vs Nottingham Forest after what he did

Dwight McNeil played the full 90 minutes as Everton were held to a goalless draw against Burnley at Turf Moor.

With Jack Grealish injured, David Moyes opted to start the 26-year-old against his former club on Saturday afternoon.

McNeil played on the left wing but failed to make a telling impact all game, barring one key pass he completed.

Is David Moyes too negative? 🤔

Dwight McNeil likely to be dropped against Nottingham Forest

After picking up a point against Burnley, the Toffees are now set to take on Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.

Sean Dyche will take on his former club at the City Ground on 30 December, with Everton going into that one as slight favourites.

Forest are currently in 17th place and desperately need a win to go further clear of West Ham, who are five points behind and in 18th.

There is a good chance that Grealish returns to the eleven for that one, as his injury is only a minor one, with McNeil making way for him.

The winger’s stats against Burnley make for poor reading and having Grealish back in the side will give Everton a better chance of winning the game.

McNeil lost possession 13 times for Everton vs Burnley

According to Sofascore, McNeil was the second-worst player for the Toffees against Burnley on Saturday.

He attempted four crosses all game, but none of them found their desired target.

McNeil was also clumsy when he had the ball and lost possession a colossal 13 times.

His passing also was not on point as he had an accuracy of just 75 per cent, completing only 18 passes.

Usually known as a winger who’s willing to take players on and stride into the box, the 26-year-old did not make a single attempted dribble.

He was also highly ineffective without the ball, winning just two out of his four attempted tackles.

Aerially, the former Burnley attacker was bullied as he lost three out of his four aerial duels – a success rate of just 25 per cent.

Grealish would arguably have done better than McNeil in most, if not all, metrics, and it is a no-brainer for Moyes to include him in their eleven against Forest
