Everton player ratings vs Burnley, how Tyler Dibling fared as 8/10 star shines

Everton were forced to settle for a point against a Burnley side who sit second bottom in the Premier League table.

Although it may appear like points dropped, David Moyes may look at the positives as he fielded a starting XI with numerous changes.

Due to a variety of reasons, Everton’s squad has been depleted in recent weeks.

The January transfer window cannot come soon enough for the Blues, with Jack Grealish missing the trip to Burnley through illness.

Everton put up a solid fight against Scott Parker’s side, but it was the same old story as the Toffees lacked that much needed quality in the final third.

Jordan Pickford – 5

Did not face a single shot to save.

Jake O’Brien – 6

Defensively solid enough, but Everton are desperate to sign an attacking right-back in the January transfer window.

James Tarkowski – 5

Almost cost Everton the game in the final minute of the game through his failed clearance.

Michael Keane – 5

Not Michael Keane’s finest display against his former side after being regularly caught with the ball in dangerous areas.

Vitaliy Mykolenko – 5

The Ukraine international’s limitations were certainly on display at Turf Moor. Vitaliy Mykolenko simply does not offer Everton with the quality they need in the final third.

James Garner – 8

As he has been for most of the season, James Garner looked a level above most of the players on the pitch.

Everton want to tie Garner down to a new deal and it is no surprise after performances like this,

Tim Iroegbunam – 7

Another solid showing from Tim Iroegbunam. The midfielder is going to make it difficult for Idrissa Gana Gueye to return straight into the starting XI after AFCON.

Tyler Dibling – 7

Finally! Dibling was handed his second start in the Premier League for Everton and he took his opportunity with both hands.

Tarkowski praised Dibling earlier in the week and the 19-year-old was one of the few bright sparks for Moyes.

Charly Alcaraz – 5

Better in the second half from the Argentine, but it could not have been much worse than his showing in the first 45 minutes.

His work rate cannot be denied, but the midfielder needs to show more quality.

Dwight McNeil – 5

Very little quality in the final third from Dwight McNeil who was filling in on the left wing for the absent Jack Grealish.

Moyes has denied the notion of selling McNeil in January, but the midfielder hasn’t done much to warrant a future on Merseyside.

Beto – 5

Offered very little attacking threat until Martin Dubravka denied his clever flick just before he was taken off.

Dibling offered him a golden opportunity in the first half, but the striker was unable to get on the end of the delivery.

Substitutes

Thierno Barry – 6

Added some much needed energy up top.

Merlin Rohl – 5

Done what was needed in the middle of the park.

Nathan Patterson – N/A

A truly bizarre substitution from Moyes to take off Dibling for the right-back.
