David Moyes will be hoping to replicate players like Alan Stubbs at Everton, as the Toffees icon was loved around Goodison Park.
His impact on the club spoke volumes as Stubbs made 193 appearances for Everton after signing originally in 2001, as Moyes chose to re-sign him in 2006.
Now, the former defender takes a keen interest in the club as they endure this new project under The Friedkin Group.
Stubbs hopes Everton push for Europe, and he, out of all people, will know Moyes is the right man for the job.
But it seems as though the Scotsman has taken some advice from his former player, after a shock link has appeared at Everton.

David Moyes listened to Alan Stubbs’ John McGinn advice at Everton
What the Toffees are lacking right now is a solid midfield.
Of course, Idrissa Gana Gueye signing a new contract was a big plus, but Moyes knows he needs someone to accompany him in the pivot.
From this, a shock link has emerged, as Everton want Aston Villa’s John McGinn.
McGinn has been at Villa for seven seasons now and has been a consistent performer, but Moyes might be using his Scottish connection to prise the 30-year-old away from Villa Park.
But also, what Stubbs told Moyes in 2019 might have lingered with the Everton manager, as speaking to the Sunday Post, Moyes made something clear about McGinn after Villa’s return to the Premier League.
“John McGinn is another central midfielder who can do great things this season,” Moyes said.
“Alan Stubbs had him at Hibernian and raved to me about him many times. I can see why.
“He adapted very quickly to life in the English Championship and dominated many games. But you need to take into account that Aston Villa have just been promoted, and there shouldn’t be too much too soon expected from John.
“He will take time to find his feet and really get it going.”

McGinn can provide the perfect balance for Moyes at Everton
There is so much Everton can get from signing McGinn.
The Scotsman is a leader, ball winner, excellent ball striker, and overall, a brilliant all-rounder.
Villa aren’t looking to sell, but it’s up to Moyes to try and convince McGinn about the project on Merseyside, as alongside Gueye, McGinn’s credentials provide the perfect balanced pivot at Everton.
| Idrissa Gana Gueye in PL 24/25 | John McGinn in PL 24/25 | |
| Games played | 37 | 34 |
| Passing accuracy % | 87.1% | 86.6% |
| Tackles won per 90 | 2.35 | 0.97 |
| Dribble success % | 48.6% | 60.6% |
| Duels won | 221 | 139 |
| Fouls won | 46 | 69 |
Everton have been offered players like McGinn, but to have the real deal would suit Moyes’ style and the Toffees as a whole to a tee.
Stubbs’ advice six years ago has clearly been playing on the mind of Moyes, and just maybe he can formulate a transfer, with the former Everton defender potentially helping the Scotsman land his fellow countryman.
