David Moyes is now at risk of falling into the same issue at Everton which was evident during his time as West Ham United manager.

With just one win since August, Everton find themselves in a tricky spot going into the game against Fulham at the weekend.

Moyes was left with some big decisions to make on Monday evening against Sunderland, with changes being made throughout the game on Wearside.

Michael Keane has put pressure on Thierno Barry to start finding the back of the net after the 23-year-old squandered a golden opportunity to double the lead.

A lot of change was sanctioned at Finch Farm over the summer, with the Friedkins backing Moyes in the transfer window.

However, there is something that may not have changed about Moyes as the Everton fans look to him for an answer amid this turbulent run of form.

David Moyes not willing to trust his Everton youngsters

After the game, Jamie Carragher admitted Moyes is being questioned by Everton fans because he is not trusting the likes of Tyler Dibling.

The youngster was snubbed for Dwight McNeil when Iliman Ndiaye came off on Monday evening with a potential injury worry.

It has already been suggested Dibling is impressing Moyes during Everton training, but the 19-year-old continues to be overlooked on a match day.

On Monday evening, Moyes admitted McNeil had impressed him in training and that was the reasoning behind his substitution.

Dibling was bought in the summer for big money, but the promising winger has barely played since he made the move from Southampton.

Everton got themselves wrapped up in a fierce transfer battle with the Saints over Dibling and fans are yet to see any reason why they spent the money they did on the 19-year-old.

Moyes was wary about using youth players at West Ham

At the end of Moyes’ stint at West Ham, his final starting XI was not made up of any academy products from his time at the club.

The 62-year-old was able to bring in some exciting players at West Ham, with the likes of Jarrod Bowen, Lucas Paqueta and Mohammed Kudus.

Moyes did bring on a youngster called George Earthy for the final nine minutes of his reign against Manchester City, though.

During his time at the London Stadium, Moyes only handed out six debuts to players under the age of 20.

But the general consensus is that it will take a lot for Moyes to really put his trust in the club’s youth players.

Harrison Armstrong wanted to impress Moyes over the pre-season, but he was instead loaned out for another season in the Championship.

Dibling is already experiencing the difficulties in earning Moyes’ trust and the decision to bring on McNeil on Monday night was a damning one.
