Everton lost 1-0 to Tottenham Hotspur in North London on Sunday afternoon.

It’s now seven games without a win to end the 2025/26 Premier League season, so the overwhelming feeling around Everton is disappointment.

Many Toffees fans have urged Angus Kinnear to replace David Moyes at the end of the season, as they feel he’s been largely responsible for the decline.

How do you even sum up that performance? 😡

However, Kinnear has already backed his manager ahead of the summer transfer, insisting that the club values the stability he brings.

Now, speaking after the Spurs defeat, Moyes has made another plea to the Friedkin Group.

David Moyes says Everton need more players after Tottenham defeat

Reflecting on the last few weeks of the season, Moyes has admitted that Everton have lacked squad depth to compete for a higher position.

That’s again an indication that he wants the Friedkins to back him in the upcoming transfer window, following similar comments earlier this week.

“I didn’t think it was a great performance from us, the second half was probably better, we had around 20 minutes at the end where we created opportunities,” the 63-year-old stated.

That was a disgraceful performance from Everton… something has to change! 😤

“We were incredibly resilient not to buckle under early pressure, though. We gave away a lot of free kicks and that meant we had to defend a lot – the goal came from a corner kick.

“We need more players. I’ve seen it more in the last few weeks. I don’t want to make excuses but also some decisions have gone against us.”

The issue Moyes may find is that the club signed 10 new players for him this season, and he’s hardly integrated any of them.

So, it wouldn’t at all be surprising if the American investors are a bit more cautious in their recruitment this summer after shelling out a club-record net spend last year.
