Harrison Armstrong is looking like the next big thing at Everton and might have done enough to convince David Moyes.

Young Armstrong is flying on loan at Derby County and explains exactly why he is one of the most exciting prospects at Everton.

Everton insiders think Armstrong is ready, as a big decision needs to be made on his future.

He’s excelled in the Championship, and at just 18, the Toffees have a gem on their hands.

However, with Blackburn wanting to sign Armstrong, Moyes has now given his verdict on the starlet’s future.

David Moyes outlines Harrison Armstrong plans at Everton

The Toffees will be hoping to emulate the next Wayne Rooney in Armstrong, in terms of a talent as good as him, but won’t want to put a heap of pressure on him.

It’s become clear the midfielder suits Championship level, and maybe the chance for Premier League football isn’t too far down the line.

The media see Armstrong as a physical presence, which is a clear sign that the youngster could mix with the big boys.

However, Moyes might want to take a different approach and responded to a ‘big statement’ made about Armstrong in his pre-match press conference for the Manchester City game.

“Walk into the first team is a big statement, to be a part of the squad is probably more likely,” Moyes said.

“Start of pre-season, we’ll bring him back in, and then we’ll decide then.

“We like him and we want him around. But we might think about another loan, but credit to him for going to the Championship and getting a starting position.”

How Armstrong would fit into Everton’s plans

It’s a risky move, and you’d expect someone as experienced as the Scotsman to make the right choice.

At the moment, the right choice is looking like another loan, with Armstrong still needing to learn his trade in the professional game.

But Moyes could be lacking that physical presence in the squad next season, which could provide an open door opportunity for Armstrong.

Looking at the current physical midfielders who are at the club, it’s looking likely there’ll be a space available for Armstrong who has been described as Phenomenal.

Abdoulaye Doucoure is unsure about his Everton future as an exit will leave a space open, and adding to this, Idrissa Gana Gueye looks likely to leave Everton.

So, it’s not like there won’t be room in the inn for the youngster, but Moyes is just treading lightly.
