David Moyes will be jealous of Brentford manager Keith Andrews after watching one player’s performance at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Moyes has been vocal about the Toffees’ need to improve their squad in the January transfer window.
And the Scotsman will now have an even stronger case to put forward to the board after the game against Brentford.
This is because one Bees star dominated the Everton defence, showing Moyes exactly what is missing from his team.

This was a dismal performance from Everton…

Igor Thiago shows Everton exactly what they are missing
Igor Thiago was already the second-highest goal scorer in the Premier League before Sunday’s game against Everton.
He has now extended his lead over Antonio Semenyo (9) in third place after scoring his 12th, 13th and 14th league goals of the season.
Thiago troubled Michael Keane and James Tarkowski throughout the first half and produced a tidy finish to put Brentford 1-0 up in the 11th minute.
He then doubled his tally in the 51st minute with a delightful chip over Jordan Pickford’s outstretched legs.
Thiago’s third goal was probably his best, carrying the ball all the way from the halfway line before again chipping Pickford.

The 24-year-old’s performance would have been even more frustrating for Everton fans, as they are crying out for a player like him.
Unfortunately, neither Thierno Barry nor Beto have shown that they are on a similar level to Thiago.
The only good news for Moyes after a disappointing display will be that he can double down on his demand for a new striker in January.
Brentford’s excellent season so far has highlighted just how valuable it is to have an out-and-out goalscorer.

Igor Thiago’s goal record vs Everton strikers
Igor Thiago’s goal record stands out in comparison to Everton’s strikers in the last two seasons.
Beto and Dominic Calvert-Lewin combined for just 11 goals in the 2024/25 campaign.
Meanwhile, Beto and Barry have only netted four times between them halfway through this season.
Everton would love to have a striker capable of scoring 14 goals in 20 league games, as Thiago has done in the last six months.
Indeed, the Toffees would surely be thrilled to sign a forward who can score seven or eight goals in the second half of the season.
