Thierno Barry is likely to start up front for Everton against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday evening.
Barry had started eight consecutive Premier League games before the Toffees’ 0-0 draw with Burnley on Saturday.
But David Moyes decided to give Beto another chance in the starting eleven after a lengthy spell on the substitutes’ bench.
However, the striker failed to take his opportunity, and Barry is now expected to return to the lineup against Forest.
Here is why the Frenchman must learn from Beto’s big mistake ahead of the January transfer window.
Beto got his long-awaited start, did he do enough to keep Thierno Barry on the bench? 🧐
Last chance for Thierno Barry to impress before January window opens
Barry and Beto have struggled to solve Everton’s goalscoring woes, having netted only once each in the Premier League this season.
For Beto, this has been a consistent issue since he joined the club from Udinese in the summer of 2023, and time is running out for him to turn things around.
Indeed, it is a genuine possibility that he has already started his last game at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, with the January transfer window only days away.

The same cannot be said for Barry, who deserves plenty more opportunities before he is written off, but the game against Forest could be crucial for his Everton career.
As it stands, Moyes will be urging his recruitment team to provide him with at least one more forward option in the transfer window.
This could relegate Barry to second or even third choice next month if the Toffees are successful in the market.
So, the 23-year-old would greatly benefit from a strong performance on Tuesday to remind Moyes that he is worth persevering with.

Everton should cash in on Beto in January transfer window
Beto’s difficult spell at Everton could finally come to an end during the January transfer window.
The 27-year-old signed for the Toffees after reaching double figures for goals in consecutive Serie A seasons with Udinese.
However, he has only scored 11 times in 77 Premier League appearances and is no longer the first-choice striker at the Hill Dickinson.
And with Moyes desperate to bring in another striker in the window, it is probably the right time for him to move elsewhere.
Recent reports suggested that West Ham are interested in signing Beto, and Everton would surely entertain an offer.
