Following his £25m move to the London Stadium in January, the Argentine forward scored six goals in 18 Premier League appearances.

It is by no means a shoddy return for a player operating in a relegation-bound side like West Ham, but it may not exactly inspire Evertonians.

Although competition would be fierce, Everton have also considered a move for Jarrod Bowen.

Over his last three seasons – two in Serie A and one in the Premier League – Castellanos has only reached double figures for goals once.

On paper, that is not better than what Everton already have with Beto.

Everton supporters have seen the club take chances on strikers over recent years, but this summer should provide a more certain signing.

Castellanos may well have some Premier League experience to his name, yet the lack of consistency in front of goal would surely provide Everton with another risky addition.
