Everton’s hopes of Carabao Cup success came to an end on Tuesday evening with defeat away to Wolves.
David Moyes made a number of changes for the trip to Molineux, with the likes of Tyler Dibling handed his first start for the club.
These changes did not pay off, with Everton finding themselves chasing the game after the opening half an hour of the game.
Some Everton fans were pleased with Dibling’s debut, but he was replaced before the hour mark as the Blues chased an equaliser.
Despite making changes in the second half, Everton were unable to find the goal they so desperately needed.
It was ultimately a night of disappointment for the Blues, but there was one player who impressed particularly against the Premier League strugglers.

One Everton player impressed in Carabao Cup loss to Wolves
Going into the game, James Tarkowski admitted Everton are prioritising the cup competitions this season.
That message did not translate into the team’s performance, however.
Reporting for Sky Sports, journalist Adam Bates did claim there was one player who looked bright after coming on and that was Jack Grealish.
“Garner has just hit the crossbar for Everton with the Wolves goalkeeper beaten. So close to a stunning equaliser,” said Bates from Molineux.
“Grealish has completely changed this game since coming on, drawing foul after foul.”
After the loss at the weekend in the Merseyside Derby, Gary Lineker praised Grealish for another encouraging performance from the Manchester City loanee.
Only coming on for the final 30 minutes of the game, it was clear that Everton missed the quality of the 30-year-old whilst he was watching from the dugout.
David Moyes defended Everton squad rotation
Speaking after the game, Moyes backed his decision to make so many changes from the Premier League game on Saturday.
“We’ve got a lot of good players and we’ve got players in the squad who are getting back to fitness, some of them who are not, so we wanted to give some of them an opportunity to show what they can do,” he told the Liverpool Echo.
Everton do not play until Monday evening, which means the players have the best part of a week to recover for their game against West Ham United.

Given there was supposedly an emphasis on the cup competitions, this does feel like a missed opportunity for Everton.
There may well be a lot of Everton fans who feel Moyes should have gone stronger from the start and got the job done with the likes of Grealish on the pitch.
