David Moyes urged to recall ‘really dangerous’ Everton player and change Iliman Ndiaye’s position

Everton fans were left frustrated on Monday night as David Moyes’ side drew 1-1 with West Ham United.

Everton took the lead against the Hammers as Michael Keane opened the scoring to continue his strong start to the season.

The Toffees couldn’t kick on, though, and were pegged back as Jarrod Bowen equalised for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.

Everton just didn’t do enough to win the game and lacked the cutting edge required to turn a draw into a victory.

David Moyes urged to change Iliman Ndiaye’s position in Everton XI

Moyes went with Jack Grealish and Iliman Ndiaye out wide, with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall behind Beto in attack.

Dewsbury-Hall’s ridiculous yellow card means he will miss out against Crystal Palace, while Beto again struggled to make an impact.

Everton must find an answer in the final third, and pundit Robbie Earle has suggested an interesting change.

Speaking on NBC Sports, Earle urged Moyes to find a way to bring summer signing Carlos Alcaraz into the team.

Alcaraz joined Everton permanently from Flamengo over the summer following a promising loan spell earlier in 2025.

Earle feels the Argentinian can make a real difference for Everton, and would bring him into the side while changing Iliman Ndiaye’s position.

Earle thinks Ndiaye can play as a striker, allowing Alcaraz to slot into midfield and bring more creativity to the Everton XI.

“He’s just got a guy, Charly Alcaraz, who is a forward player, 22 years of age, an Argentinian who has signed from Flamengo in the summer,” he added.

“The point being, he’s a footballer and he’s talented. And I just wonder if he could get somebody like him into the team, maybe play Ndiaye in the high position, the centre-forward position, and get him on the right-hand side.

“Again, he was on the bench, and again, he wasn’t used. I remember last season, he can be a really dangerous player and add a little bit of an X-factor to Everton in the attack,” he added.

Carlos Alcaraz struggling for Everton action

Alcaraz started at Leeds United in Everton’s first game of the season, but first-team minutes have been difficult to come by ever since.

Alcaraz hasn’t started a single Premier League game since the trip to Elland Road, with his three league appearances coming from the bench.

Since the defeat at Leeds, Alcaraz has managed just 32 minutes of Premier League action.

Dewsbury-Hall will miss out against Palace, and while Alcaraz would make sense as a replacement, his lack of minutes suggests Moyes may go in another direction.
