Beto has been linked with a move away from Everton since last summer.
Everton manager David Moyes has made Thierno Barry his first-choice number nine this season, which has led to speculation around Beto’s future.
It was reported that the Toffees were open to offers for Beto this winter, with interest from Fenerbahce and Juventus.
Beto only took 10 minutes to do what Barry couldn’t in almost 90 minutes! 🤩
There is no way Everton can now sell Beto… is there? 🫣
Now, after the striker’s last-minute equaliser against Brighton yesterday, David Ornstein has just dropped a definitive update on his future.
David Ornstein says Everton aren’t open to Beto exit this month
Beto is a really well-liked member of the Everton squad, with James Tarkowski explaining that he’s one of the hardest-working players at Finch Farm after the Brighton game.
Moyes was also very complimentary of Beto yesterday, so all the indications put towards him staying despite interest from abroad.
Ornstein has now confirmed that notion on X, as he has just dropped a major update on the Toffees centre-forward.
“Juventus made enquiry last week about availability of Everton striker Beto. #EFC not open to losing 28yo before window closes + would take significant fee to consider.
“Informal dialogue about #Juve winger Edon Zhegrova but did not develop.”
What players would you be happy to see Everton sell before Monday’s deadline? 👋
Late business is not being ruled out by Moyes 🤔
Why Everton rejected Juventus’ loan bid for Beto
Ornstein further reports that Everton decided to reject Juventus’ bid for Beto due to concerns over finding an adequate replacement in time.
The transfer window slams shut at 7pm tomorrow, so clearly it’s not realistic to recruit a Premier League-ready number nine in a matter of hours.
If you could bring back Richarlison or Lukaku, who would you go for? 👀
The Toffees had explored a deal to sign Jorgen Strand Larsen, but he looks set to join Crystal Palace in a mammoth deal worth around £50m.
Ivan Toney and Artem Dovbyk were also options, but Moyes and his recruitment staff decided against pursuing them.
