Michael Keane has praised Lewis Dobbin after a brilliant pre-season for Everton.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, the defender admitted he had been impressed with Dobbin and believes he is ‘only going to get better’.

Keane’s comments come after a stellar few weeks for Dobbin, with the forward impressing on his start against Bolton Wanderers before putting on another positive display against Stoke City.

Dobbin was then handed a full 90 minutes in Everton’s behind-closed-doors friendly against Monza, in which he scored the Toffees’ first goal.

“I think he has done really well in pre-season, and he’s looking fit and sharp,” Keane said.

He has got bits of quality and is only going to get better as well.

“He is a young lad who obviously had some good experience last season out on loan, and that will have done him good.”

Fans were unable to watch Everton’s performance against Monza earlier this week, however Dobbin took to his Instagram story to share his superb goal.

The 20-year-old could be seeing running with the ball from outside the box, taking on three defenders, cutting inside and slotting the ball coolly into the bottom corner.

Lewis Dobbin could make his mark on the Everton first team

Lewis Dobbin was initially set to go out on loan this summer but could now be handed a chance in the first team, according to The Athletic.

Sean Dyche has been left very impressed by the youngster and could be allowed to fight for his place in the matchday squad, with Ellis Simms’ exit potentially leaving a space on the bench for the former Derby County loanee.

Dobbin’s place in the team may depend on how many more attackers Everton sign, with Youssef Chermiti on the verge of completing a move from Sporting Lisbon.
